Suppressing Negative Emotions

Because of the embarrassment and shame attached to farting, we hold in a lot of crap. We gather painful events and suppress them just like we stuff things in our closets, attics, and basements that we don’t want to throw away. We keep them there for years. But why, why do we put this stuff in storage? We cannot figure out what to do with it, but it must bring us some kind of reward.

Our attics and basements are filled with old stuff from our past. It may bring fond memories, but holding on to stuff and collecting stuff can easily overcrowd our living space and overcrowd our enjoyable space, just like in the mind.

When our living space/enjoyable spaces become cluttered with old stuff, others seem to recognize it before we do. What happens when they bring it to our attention? We defend our stuff—our baggage. We identify who we are by that old stuff. We cling to it fearing if we let it go we are losing a part of ourselves we need to be happy or content.

For two decades, I carried around a pair of old Thom Mcan shoes I bought when I was seventeen. They were the first things I bought with my paycheck from my first real job. I called them snow stompers. Living on the East Coast, I needed them. Every winter I brought them out and told my children the same story about how long I had them, and how I bought them with my first paycheck from my first job. Then one day about eight years ago, they just disappeared. I suspect my oldest daughter retired them and the stories they carried. Many times, I wish I still had them.

Space is an awesome no-thing. In fact, the universe is composed of more space than actual galaxies, stars, and planets. The earth travels through this space at the rate of 66,700 miles per hour. That is why we feel so inspired at the park or at the waterfront, or in St. Peter’s Cathedral. These places reek of awesome beauty and possibility; they’re also very spacious.

The more stuff we suppress in our mental and physical space, the more that awesome emptiness drains away, and the more overwhelmed we feel. We need space to enjoy the things that do exist. When you buy a new dress or suit, give one away. Cherish your space more than anything.

Space is an awesome no-thing. That is why we feel so inspired because of it. It is awe-inspiring yet within it exist endless possibilities. It connects to our soul. Keep a clean, spacious consciousness, by not holding on to  junk, such as envy, past hurts, or vengefulness. Even the energy it takes to dislike someone takes up a lot of space in your mind. Negative thought energy disperses inside our mind and body, the same way darkness encompasses the night and pervades everything around it.

Suppressing negative thoughts is like shoving poison deep into your body. Notice the next time a thought comes that you don’t want to deal with; the first reaction is to send it back where it came from, or shove it down inside the body. Pay close attention to how you feel physically the moment you shove that thought back or down inside the body.

There is a noticeable adverse physical reaction, like when you eat something bad and your stomach is in a knot. When I’ve done it, I've actually felt a sensation traveling throughout my body, through my nervous system or blood stream or both, like I ate something I was allergic to. That is one sensation I am well used to.

That feeling is the negative emotion attached to the thought. I learned however, instead of pushing the thoughts and emotion back down, inside the body, I let them come up, one at a time. I visualize the thought moving up, out of the head, and then release it by consciously sending it out of the body. This way it causes no physical harm to the body. The result is a wonderful freedom.

When I have done this successfully, the thought never returns to me again, ever, with that awful negative emotion attached to it. Try releasing your negative thoughts and feelings this way. If you want them back, you have to go find them in the universe. Good luck with that! Once you set that thought and feeling free, thereby diffusing them, they are gone forever.

Imagine that! If you experience it again, simply repeat the procedure, but this time make sure you have allowed the thought to fully surface before releasing it. For me, once has always been enough. Of course you will think of the situation from time to time, but it will seem like a lifetime ago, and it will have no emotional effect.

On Love and Fear
There are only two emotions; LOVE and FEAR.
__

Ø Fear is the energy which contracts, closes down, draws in, runs, hides, hoards, harms.

Ø Love is the energy which expands, opens up, sends out, stays, reveals, shares, and heals.
__

o  Fear wraps our bodies in clothing.
o  Love allows us to stand, naked.
o  Fear clings to and clutches all that we have.
o  Love gives all that we have away.
o  Fear grasps
o  Love lets go.
o  Fear infuriates
o  Love soothes.
o  Fear attacks
o  Love amends

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII - Game Frenzy!

From the Eyes of a Novice!
Author: Vivian Gale

It’s a game people! Was what you would hear me exclaiming every chance I got, to anyone who would listen.  I struggle hard to understand the human affixation with sports. Seriously, growing up I thought if I was Jesus, I’d plan the Second Coming during a Super Bowl.
This is my very first time watching an entire football game. It’s probably my first time watching an entire episode of any game period.  I watched as grown men hurled themselves into a massive herd of man just waiting to leap on him because he was the one with the ball.

What drive and determination, and what inspirations the Seahawks were to me as they conquered their feeble opponents. It will always boggle my mind why the man/player runs the ball right smack into the middle of an obvious impenetrable barrier of men they can’t possibly forge their way through. Oftentimes it’s hard to tell who has the ball . . . explaining the multitude of playbacks one could only dream existed on the Soaps during a fight between Erick Cane and Vicky Buchanan on One Life to Life. Oh, wait, that was taken off with All My Children’s because it’s a “man’s world,” and men don't generally watch soaps; but I digress.

They want us women to watch “The Revolution, a weight loss show, which lasted a few weeks followed by The Chew, a, eat unhealthy food show, followed by the Doctors, and Dr. Oz. Many what a recipe for schizophrenia if I ever saw one. No wonder I’m watching football. There'd really be an earthquake if sports were taken off the air. Oops! No more digressing!

Wow, Seattle’s second touchdown via interception. I wish I could say Denver Broncos are giving it a good go, but; they look more sad and pathetic as the game goes on. I can barely look at them, I feel so bad, being empathic and all. Hum, nice commercial with David Beckham in his underwear sliding across two building in his under-draws like some type of superhero.

I’m feeling something in my stomach as the game goes on, like anxiety, or eagerness. It’s some type of adrenaline I suppose. It is  I guess what causes this game frenzy addiction. I don’t like that feeling so I'm guessing that’s the primary reason I stay away from sports and such. The Denver Bronco’s scored over 600 points this season, more than any other team in history. So, what really happened to Denver, they got eaten alive? They should wait a least one month before going home, Peyton Manning too.

Though I'm not an avid sports fan I must admit I want Seattle to win a bit more than I realize for several reasons:

1.      Seattle, my homeland- Richard Sherman Bragging rights!
2.      Randy, my honey will be difficult to live with for at least 2 weeks
3.      Players- they deserve it and I like to see young people of color succeeding.

Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day when white people cheered in the middle of the street holding up a sign with the head of a black man and a lynching wasn't involved. I'm just keeping it real. I was born in ‘62; the year Kennedy was assassinated so I've lived through the growth of our freedom and the end of slavery, with without its end, none of this would be possible.

Seattle Seahawks scored 3 times when they didn't even have the ball. This game was almost unbelievable to watch. I’m glad I picked this one to watch as my first. No more a virgin. I can't say that I’m a convert either. But, I'm beginning to understand.
From the eyes of a novice who spent most of her life intellectualizing I can say that the things I do believe that make watching sports great are:

1.      Camaraderie
2.      Adrenaline
3.      And a Sense of belonging and or
4.      Fitting in

When you pick a side you belong somewhere. Prior to this, I never felt a part of. I did watch the second half of the NFL Championship Game. And yes, I did get a little help with the terminology from my honey. I feel like I belong, I was part of The 12th Man, and they were many.

In closing, let me say, it was a hell of a game. Toward the end of it, I had only one pressing question which was answered by Pete Carroll, the Seahawks coach when he stated, “We didn't do anything different. No new tactics, etc. We just played how we always played.” I had been thinking, they must have studied new plays by watching the Bronco’s over the past couple of weeks off and changed their strategies.

Hat’s off to the Seahawks, they are so bad; they bought their weather with them! Ending the game 43-8. After all, “The name of the game is to score isn't it?”

How To Get Rid Of Boils and HS

(Bonus) TREATMENT FOR BOILS

The following blog is an excerpt from my book, Natural Approaches for the Treatment of Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

I’ve determined that my outbreak of boils are also food related. I can guarantee their appearance by eating certain foods. The best remedy to keep them away is to eliminate the foods that cause them. When you do get boils however, buy and over the counter product from Rite-Aid called, Draw Out Salve. Apply it to the affected area for 2-4 hours then take a hot bath. It works twice as fast with the hot bath, soak 20 minutes. Do not use on open boils. It is non effective on HS sores. If the boil is very just coming and small, usually one treatment or application is enough to dissolve it.

Try to get to the boils as early as possible. Believe it or not, sometime I’m too lazy. I guess I have so much to do for my body it’s understandable. If it is already formed big and deeper it will take a couple of treatments or days to get it down or to open. It will become very painful right before it opens to drain so get you gauze pads ready. My insurance pays for gauze pads 4x4. I use to get 2 boxes per month but don’t need nearly as many now. I do use them in moist areas to keep bacteria from forming.

I’ve tried similar products from other pharmacy’s but Rite-Aide’s product worked the best for me. It cost less than ten dollars. A damp cloth with a hot water bottle can also be as effective as the bath. I’ve never had a boil more than 2 days using this method.

When you get a boil or HS, make a list of everything you’ve eaten even the seasonings. This will help you identify your triggers. You will get to the point when you only eat food you’ve prepared almost entirely so that you know what is in it.

Find out how to keep boils from returning in my book Hidradenitis Suppurativa, Natural Approaches for the treatment of HS.
